Yoga has been an integral part of my life since I first discovered it around 10 years ago. There are a lot of stereotypes about what yoga is and what kind of people participate in the strange practice. The first thing I now tell people who have never tried it is YOGA IS NOT A RELIGION! There are so many facets to a yoga practice, but more than anything yoga is life tool and it can be used how ever you want.
For some, you can tap in to a spiritual aspect due to the transformation of your mind and body, but it's so much more than one could begin to explain until you experience it for yourself.
If you are interested in becoming the best version of you, mentally, physically & spiritually, yoga is a phenomenal way to do just that.
Yoga starts to work by opening muscles in your body you are not used to accessing in normal every day life. At first your body and your mind WILL RESIST! You are doing something you are not used to and as it is with anything new, it is natural for our minds and bodies to resist.
After a few classes, you will start to learn to synchronize your breath with your movements. Your body begins to create more oxygen, increase your blood flow/circulation & it will start to remove stagnant energy from the body. Around the 3 month mark, you really start to feel the changes. Your body will become accustomed to the new movements and begin to feel more natural. Your energy levels and mood will elevate higher than you've ever experienced in your life. With a consistent practice, you will become more aware and more conscious of the present moment. Right now, right here. You will begin to allow your mind to quiet down, breathe and assess before you react.
You will be amazed to realize that how you confront your practice on the mat is also how you confront conflicting experiences in your life. As your practice strengthens so will your everyday reactions to real scenarios. Things that would anger and upset you, will be easier to manage. You will learn to breathe through the situations, just as you will learn to breathe through them on the mat.
Activities and habits that do not serve you well will naturally fall away without even trying. All you have to do it commit yourself to being a better healthier you.
I am living proof that this practice works and I have made it my life's mission to share that with others.
We only have this one life and this one body. We must do the best we can to preserve it. For if we do not take care of ourselves, and we are not healthy ourselves, how can we ever help take care of those we love?
